The Marriage & Love Foundation

“We help couples (married, engaged, seriously dating) improve marital satisfaction and success with relationship building workshops, marriage retreats, and events to decrease marital discord and rates of divorce.”

1. Marriage rates among African-Americans have been lower compared to other racial and ethnic groups in the United States. Factors contributing to this include socioeconomic disparities, historical and cultural influences, and changing societal norms.

2. African-American couples have faced higher divorce rates compared to all other races.

3. African-American couples, like couples of any background, face various challenges in maintaining healthy marriages. These challenges may include economic stress, access to quality relationship education and counseling, and external pressures.

4.  Stable and thriving marriages are associated with positive outcomes for families and communities, as mentioned in your letter. They can contribute to the well-being of children and strengthen the social fabric of communities.

The Marriage & Love Foundation non-profit was established to support and decrease the divorce rate within the African American community.

African American couples have the highest divorce rate in the United States which in turn severely impacts generational wealth. The Marriage & Love Foundation provides couples with the skill set needed to have a thriving marriage. Through our programming we focus on improving communication, conflict resolution, financial wellness and parenting.

The Marriage & Love Foundation conducts seminars, workshops and marriage conferences focused on building a strong foundation for married couples.

How we plan to decrease the divorce rate amongst African American couples:

  • Annual marriage retreats

  • Monthly psychoeducational classes

  • Local events

  • Psychoeducational emails, videos and interviews

  • Psychoeducational marriage resource guides and tools.
